The employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam
Limited (BSNL) will go on their nationwide indefinite strike from June 12,
2013. In this connection, state secretary of national federation of telecom
employees (NFTE) Chhattisgarh circle SM Chitamwar informed that the employees want
the BSNL management to implement the agreement it signed with BSNL unions and
associations on June 12, 2012 on fixation of 78.2% IDA.
He informed that before going on
indefinite strike the employees would demonstrate in favour of their demand at BSNL
offices across the country on Wednesday. Then, the employees will stage
day-long nationwide dharna on June 6, 2013.
He said the BSNL
management had signed an agreement on June 12, 2012 with BSNL unions/Associations for extension of
78.2% IDA fixation benefit to the employees but the said benefit was denied at
the time of wage agreement despite Centre’s orders.
“The
BSNL management after getting approval by the Board on agreement forwarded the
proposal to Centre’s department of telecommunications (DOT) for approval. All
the queries and clarifications sought by DOT have been replied by the corporate
office. The BSNL has clearly stated that it can bear expenditures from its
operational revenue, however, DOT is avoiding to grant approval of 78.2% IDA
benefit to employees and is adopting indifferent attitude,” he said.
“There
cannot be any compromise on the issue as denial is placing the employees on
financial loss. NFTE is committed for settlement of the important issue and
waited for 12 moths,” he added.
