The NSUI on Friday gheraoed Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU)
opposing fee hike by private colleges and submitted memorandum to varsity
registrar KK Chandrakar. It has demanded constitution of regulatory commission
for streamlining fee structures of colleges.
The
NSUI members led by their Raipur
district vice presidents Bhavesh Shukla and Akash Sharma sloganeered against
inordinate fee structures in colleges and demonstrated wearing blindfolds
before varsity’s administrative block.
“Chandrakar
has assured us that the RSU would seriously look after the matter and take a
positive decision in favour of students,” said Shukla and Sharma.
Former
state NSUI president Devendra Yadav said due to continuous rise in college fees
in past five years the students of middle and lower class were facing
additional financial burden. He said education was being commercialised in the
colleges but the NSUI would strongly protest establishment of such trend.
Yadav
warned the varsity of taking the fee hike matter to streets if the NSUI’s
demands would not be met.
