AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh feels that change is inevitable
in Chhattisgarh. Talking to scribes at Congress Bhawan on Tuesday he said the
state BJP government was wasting public money extravagantly, had squandered
rich mineral resources to industrialists and failed to check grafts, hence its
dream of making a hat trick would not come true.
Comparing
Congress-led UPA government at Centre and BJP government in Chhattisgarh he
said while the former empowered common man with rights, ensured education for
all under Right to Education (RTE) and gave job guarantee to villagers under
MNREGA, the latter did nothing except making false claims.
Contradicting
his party’s allegations that migration increased in state due to grafts in
MNREGA works, Singh said rather effective implementation of MNREGA in rural
pockets had actually brought down migration rate in Chhattisgarh.
“Even
the students from financially weaker section of the society are getting
opportunity to study in schools like Raipur’s Rajkumar College due to implementation of RTE,”
he pointed.
He
alleged that grafts prevailed in state government’s rice and kerosene
distribution channels. “The poor are not getting actual quota of rice and
kerosene from fair price shops due to corruption. Still, the government has not
arrested any food inspector in last nine and a half years,” he said.
Singh
further lashed out at chief minister Raman Singh for stating that none can
challenge him into Pushp Steel case and said the latter was arrogant and his reaction
was outcome of his frustration. He said the Comptroller and Auditor General
(CAG) too had mentioned that the BJP government has benefited ineligible
Sancheti group by giving it coal blocks.
Singh
further said he was surprised by photographs of CM being publicised everywhere
through different mediums. “This is sheer misuse of public money. During my
tenure as a CM in Madhya Pradesh, I never did this. It is really strange that
the BJP government does not hesitate in wasting several crores in events like
Rajyotsav and paying massive bucks to a bollywood star for a few minute performance,
but ignore public requirements,” he added.
Terming
figures disclosed by CAG Vinod Rai in 2G spectrum scam and coalgate as
fictitious Singh said Rai created such figures because he had developed political
ambitions on verge of his retirement.
He
also attacked media for creating hype when CAG presents its report on Centre’s
performance and posing silence when similar report comes in state like
Chhattisgarh.
On
food security bill he said about 62% families of the country would get food at
low rate once the parliament passes the bill and makes it an Act.
He
further gave clean-chit to union railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and union
law minister Ashwini Kumar. “Bansal neither transferred anybody nor recommended
for anyone. While in case of Kumar, what is wrong if he has given any advice to
improve the affidavit,” he asked.
