Congress and its frontal organisations paid tribute to former prime
minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 22nd death anniversary on Tuesday. The
partymen led by their state unit president Nandkumar Patel first garlanded
Gandhi’s statute at fire brigade chowk and then took pledge to fight against
terrorism at Congress Bhawan.
The
YC members led by organisation’s former Raipur Lok Sabha president Vinod Tiwari
remembered Gandhi by burning tobacco, gutkha and cigarettes at Jaistambh chowk
and vowed to create awareness about deaddiction in the state.
Tiwari
said majority of youth could get inclined towards addiction instead of working
for country’s development. He said the YC would soon launch deaddiction campaign
bring the wayward youth on right track.
Another
group of YC members led by their Raipur Lok Sabha president Sunil Kukreja organised
blood camp to mark Gandhi’s death anniversary. The YC members also pledged to
dethrone BJP government in next assembly elections.
The
NSUI members led by their Raipur
district president Pradeep Sahu also garlanded Gandhi’s statue at fire brigade
chowk and vowed to follow his footsteps.
