State Congress on Wednesday praised party-led UPA government for
completing nine years at Centre. The PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP
leader Ravindra Choubey expressed their gratitude to the UPA government for
making several provisions for development of Chhattisgarh.
The
duo said the UPA government hiked minimum support price (MSP) of paddy from 580
per quintal to Rs 1250 per quintal in nine years while the then BJP-led NDA
government at Centre increased on Rs 60 in five years, i.e. from Rs 490 to Rs
550.
The
Centre also established paddy research centre in the state to develop
agriculture sector, they added.
Besides,
they said, considering industrial development the UPA government approved two
rail corridor projects for Chhattisgarh.
They
pointed that the Centre also ensure providing better higher education
facilities to the state youth and hence took initiative in establishing a
central university on the name of Guru Ghasidas at Bilaspur, All India
Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and
National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Raipur.
The
Centre is further providing minimum job guarantee to the labourers in state
through MNREGA, they said. Similarly, under its literacy campaign – Sarva
Shiksha Abhiyan the Centre is providing free text books and uniforms to school
students, they added.
They
said the other central schemes through which Chhattisgarh state is taking
benefit are – pradhanmantri grameen sadak yojna (PMGSY), rashtriya parivar sahayata
yojna, national horticulture mission, janani suraksha yojna, Mid-day Meal
scheme, Rajiv Gandhi drinking water mission, pradhanmantri rojgar srijan karyakram,
Indira awas yojna, widow pension scheme, old-age pension scheme, national rural
health mission, total sanitation campaign, Indira Gandhi disabled pension
scheme, national agriculture development scheme, national food security act,
Sanjeevni 108, cash subsidy scheme, etc.
