Bank scam: Cong alleges police blackmailing govt

Says top officials escaped action after Darbha incident as they had bank manager’s narco test CD

Raipur, July 22, 2013

Congress on Monday alleged that police were blackmailing government ever since it obtained CD of Indira Priyadarshini Bank manager Umesh Sinha’s narco test. “The government did not take action against top officials after Darbha incident because the latter had CD of Sinha’s narco test,” said PCC’s programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel while talking to media persons at Congress Bhawan.

He said FIR should be lodged against CM and four ministers - Brijmohan Agrawal, Amar Agrawal, Ramvichar Netam and Rajesh Munat for receiving kickbacks to refrain from taking action against guilty persons.

Lashing at IG GP Singh for talking to media when Congress released the CD, Baghel said it was surprising that the senior police official spoke on the matter that was sub-judice. “Singh’s media interaction evidently indicates that he was attempting to defend the CM and four ministers as their spokesperson,” Baghel taunted.

The Congress spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said it was an irony that the BJPians who were demanding narco test of union minister of state Charandas Mahant, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey and Congress MLAs Ajit Jogi and Kawasi Lakhma after Darbha incident suddenly found the test insignificant.

“The BJPians should clarify as what happened in just one month that they no more believe in narco test,” asked Trivedi.

“In his statement PWD minister Brijmohan Agrawal says the CD is fake. On the other hand, the IG terms CD as insufficient evidence. Both the statements are contradictory. If the CD is fake then where is the original one? When the BJPians had demanded narco test of Congress leaders, why the IG did not told media that the test was not an adequate proof? Let the government explain why there is difference of opinion between minister and police official,” he said.
