RSU ignored Shankaracharya College’s grafts: YC

Raipur, July 17, 2013

Pointing that Shankaracharya College Bhilai was being operated in a temple premises for past 17 years and did not have its own land, Youth Congress (YC) on Wednesday alleged that Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU) had deliberately ignored institute’s grafts and allowed it to violate establishment and functioning norms. In this connection, the YC members led by organisation’s former Raipur Lok Sabha president Vinod Tiwari demonstrated at varsity campus and submitted a memorandum to vice chancellor Professor SK Pandey.

“Pandey conceded that varsity delayed probe and action into Shankaracharya College’s matter and assured that the institute’s management would be summoned with all documents in seven days. He further assured that decision would be taken on the matter by the varsity’s executive council during its meeting on July 30,” informed Tiwari.

Earlier, dubbing Pandey as agent of Shankaracharya College for his dillydallying action against it, Tiwari said he had been raising the matter continuously for past couple of years but the varsity did not respond promptly.

“I have complained entire Shankaracharya group that its colleges and schools have encroached lands, done illegal construction, charging inordinate fees and providing fake degrees,” he said.

He informed that it was his complaints that compelled the varsity to constitute a four-member committee to probe into the matter. “Ironically, the probe panel too delayed investigation and submitted its report in seven months instead of 15 days. In the report, the committee recommended action against the college pointing that the latter neither has ownership of the land on which it is running for past 17 years nor has documents,” he added.

While submitting memorandum, Tiwari was accompanied by Sunny Agrawal, Fareed Khan, Ram Chakradhari, Pawan Sinha, Sayed Umer, Rubal Mehta, Sheet Shrivas, Prakash Markandey, etc.
