Cong to govt: Explain why tainted official gets CSERC baton

Raipur, July 11, 2013

Terming additional chief secretary (ACS) Narayan Singh as tainted in a couple of cases, Congress on Thursday sought explanation from government pertaining to his appointment as chairman of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC).

“How come the government give baton of a quasi-judicial post to Singh when it denied him promotion from ACS to chief secretary for his alleged involvement in furniture scam and Malik Makbooja case,” asked Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.

He said appointment of chief minister Raman Singh’s relative Dr GB Gupta as vice chancellor of Ayush University further exposed the BJP’s face of giving preference to near and dear ones and ignoring eligible candidates.
