Hariprasada summons Mahant to New Delhi on July 14

Raipur, July 11, 2013

Chhattisgarh Congress incharge BK Hariprasada has reportedly summoned acting PCC chief Charandas Mahant to New Delhi on July 14. According to information, the duo will talk about assembly poll candidates, organisation’s current and forthcoming events and induction of new office-bearers in PCC.

In the recent past, Mahant has continuously held one-to-one talks with DCC and BCC presidents regarding poll preparation, strengthening of the organisation and number of candidates for Vidhan Sabha elections. The party has rather asked all its members to tell whether they wish to contest poll or not. In doing so, the party found that there are more than fifty candidates in every assembly constituency.

The Congress had earlier said that it would select poll candidates on the basis of survey conducted by its national team and names of the candidates would be declared about three months before the elections. Now, in the backdrop of its debacle two bypolls and emergence of large number of candidates from every assembly seat, the party is concerned of rebellion during polls. Hence, Mahant is said be discussing the matter with Hariprasada to change the candidate selection procedure to check rebellion.

Mahant will further discuss about the new names to be inducted in PCC to increase organisational activities across the state. He will also take inputs from Hariprasada regarding party’s forthcoming events.

Presently, the party is taking out kalash yatra in three phases and fourth phase of the yatra will be taken out from Dantewada in coming days. He will submit report of kalash yatra to Hariprasada and further talk about date of parivartan yatra to be restarted in August 2013 again.

Mahant will also discuss about date fixation for meeting of family members of deceased Congmen and injured during May 25 incident with party supreme Sonia Gandhi.
