Reacting to BJP vice president and spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasne’s remark that Congress is directly linked to Maoists, PCC spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi on Monday said it was the ruling party not principal opposition connected to the extremists.
“The naxals expanded their domain in different parts of the state from Bastar in past nine and a half years during BJP regime. When the BJP government takes out vikas yatra the naxals remain silent but when congress takes out parivartan yatra they attack its convoy. This proves that the BJP has direct connection with the naxals,” he said.
Pointing that the BJP got unexpectedly high result in naxal-hit regions in past two assembly elections he said it was this reason that creates doubts over former’s anti-naxal policies.
Eh alleged that the BJP government never took initiative to carry out development works in Bastar because its ulterior motive was to allow naxals to flourish and get political advantage from their presence.
