Bank scam: Cong slams govt for delayed action against guilty

Raipur, July 30, 2013

Congress on Tuesday slammed government for delaying action against guilty persons in Indira Priyadarshini Bank scam and reiterated its demand of CBI inquiry into the matter.

“In last eight years, the entire effort was to save the guilty persons. Since the government compelled the police to put the matter in the backburner we want an independent agency like CBI to probe into it,” said Congress business cell president Kanhaiyya Agrawal.

“Ironically, chief minister Raman Singh says he had always given priority to bank’s affected accountholders. If he was so concerned about them then what he did in their favour in past eight years,” Agrawal asked.

Hailing PCC president Charandas Mahant’s announcement that if Congress would form government the deposited amount of all accountholders would be returned and guilty persons would be punished in three months, Agrawal said it was principal opposition’s assurance that had once again created hope among the accountholders.
