Bank scam: Cong says CM, 4 ministers took kickbacks

Raipur, July 20, 2013

Linking connection of Indira Priyadarshini Bank scam with chief minister Raman Singh and four ministers Congress on Saturday alleged that the five took kickbacks to cover the matter and prevent action against guilty persons.

“After the scam, police conducted bank manager Umesh Sinha’s narco test on chief judicial magistrate’s directives. The CD of this test is available with the Congress. In the CD, Sinha has admitted that after scam bribe of Rs one crore each was given to CM and two ministers - Brijmohan Agrawal and Rajesh Munat. While, Rs two crore was given to then cooperative minister Ramvichar Netam to drop action against guilty persons. In addition, Rs one crore was given to late DGP OP Rathore,” said PCC’s programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel while talking to scribes at Congress Bhawan.

“Former PCC president Nandkumar Patel had planned to disclose this CD before media on June 15, 2013, but fearing of being exposed the government hatched conspiracy to kill Patel and other Congress leaders at Jiram valley in Darbha region on May 25, 2013,” Baghel said.

“Regarding this revelation, Patel’s son Dinesh had sent an SMS to party spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi on May 23, 2013,” he added.

Baghel said if the government had submitted CD of the narco test before court, the CM and four ministers would have been compelled to tender their resignation.

He informed that under a planned conspiracy, the bank’s board of directors and employees embezzled over Rs 54 crore (belonged to 25716 account holders) between year 2003 to August 1, 2006.

“The government’s role is doubtful because it was expected to instantly hand over such a massive scam to an independent agency like CBI. Now, let it clarify its stand,” he said.
