Darbha case: Cong files FIR against CM, ADG Mukesh Gupta, ADG RK Vij

Raipur, July 12, 2013

Congress on Friday filed FIR in zero against chief minister Raman Singh, ADG (Intelligence) Mukesh Gupta and ADG (Naxal Operations) RK Vij into May 25 naxal incident and sought action against the three and other unknown guilty persons under different sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Arms Act.

The FIR was lodged by late PCC president Nandkumar Patel’s relative and party leader Balakram Patel and DCC Raigarh urban chief Jagdish Mehar at Kharsia police station.

The duo said they could not lodge FIR in the Darba police station because they did not have security.

In the FIR, they alleged May 25 incident was a conspiracy hatched by the CM, ADG Gupta, ADG Vij and other government officials with Maoists.

They said the CM was concerned of Congress parivartan yatra’s success and opposition of government’s vikas yatra in Rajnandgaon by public. They pointed that the CM feared of losing upcoming assembly polls when parivartan yatra reached Bastar and received massive response from people.

The duo charged that the ruling party plundered Bastar’s mineral resources through naxals and even created an abduction drama of then Sukma Collector Alex Paul Menon to directly talk to them.

They alleged that Darba case was a political conspiracy and CM was its mastermind. They said the government deliberately ignored security of senior Congress leaders including Nandkumar Patel, Mahendra Karma, etc during parivartan yatra in Bastar despite receiving information about their schedules in advance.

They indicated that CM did not convene any meeting of unified command amid December 2012 to May 25, 2013 despite clear threat by naxals that they would attack parivartan yatra.
