Congress will launch BJP hatao, Chhattisgarh bachao (remove BJP, save Chhattisgarh) campaign from August 9 – the day when AICC had launched quit India movement against Britishers back in 1942. The decision was taken during meeting of PCC office-bearers convened by state unit president Charandas Mahant at Congress Bhawan on Tuesday.
The drive will commence from Rajnandgaon – the assembly constituency of chief minister Raman Singh. Then the party will launch offensive against BJP government under its drive in all district headquarters.
In the meeting, Mahant directed heads of district and block units to shortlist at least five candidates each from their respective areas and submit the lists in state party office by August 5.
He further asked the DCC presidents to prepare list of important issues of their areas so that the most appropriate ones could be included in party’s election manifesto.
Considering just three months remaining for assembly polls he asked the PCC office-bearers to beef up the organisation and mobilise party activities. He also sought inputs from the office-bearers regarding party’s future activities.
In the meeting, terming reconstituted PCC team as practical, party general secretary Shiv Kumar Daharia expressed gratitude towards Mahant.
Later, talking to media persons after the meeting Mahant said if people would give mandate to Congress in 2013 Vidhan Sabha polls the deposited amounts all accountholders of Indira Priyadarshini Bank would be returned.
The meeting was attended by PCC vice presidents – TS Singhdeo, Baijnath Chandrakar, Kawasi Lakhma, Pradeep Choubey, Haridas Bhardwaj, Gurmukh Singh Hora, Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi, Tarun Chatterjee, Rajendra Chandrakar, Shankar Lal Tamrakar, general secretaries – Ramesh Warlyani, Subhash Sharma, Devvrat Singh, Shiv Kumar Daharia, Arun Vora, Fulodevi Netam, Vidhan Mishra, Premsai Singh, Padma Manhar, Chandrabhan Barmate, Subash Dhuppad, Lekhram Sahu, Shobha Ram Banjare, Abdul Hameed Hayat, Umesh Patel, Deepak Karma, Jeetendra Mudliyar, Ramlal Bhardwaj, Jhirturam Baghel, Sanjay Pathak, Rajkumar Diwan, etc.
