Aiming to bring truce between
Raipur municipal corporation’s (RMC) Congress corporators and mayor Kiranmayi
Nayak after the former reacted sharply over latter’s decision to remove three
party corporators from mayor-in-council (MiC), PCC general secretary Devvrat
Singh on Saturday held talks to both the camps separately on Saturday noon.
While Nayak gave explanation to Singh pertaining
to her decision, the upset corporators alleged that the mayor neither take them
nor the organisation before taking any significant decision.
Objecting over inclusion of independent
corporators in the MiC, the angry complainants said such corporators should
have been first inducted in Congress. They said the party corporators should
get place in the MiC on the basis of their seniority.
Notably, Nayak had recently removed three
Congress corporators – Jasbeer Singh Dhillon, Rani Satish Jain and Amit Das
from the MiC.
Infuriated by the mayor’s decision, the
corporators, led by Raipur North MLA Kuldeep Juneja, had complained against her
to state Congress president Nandkumar Patel.
Taking serious note of corporators’
complaint, Patel asked Singh to deal the matter and submit report on it.
The corporators have also informed AICC
treasurer Motilal Vora about the matter and reportedly urge him to ask the
party leadership to take stern action against Nayak.
The corporators who attended the meeting
were Jasbeer Singh Dhillon, Satnam Singh Panag, Rani Satish Jain, Amit Das,
Samir Akhtar, Rakesh Dhotre, Lekhraj Sonkar, Ritesh Tripathi, Sundar Jogi, etc.
