DCC Raipur Rural president Pankaj Sharma, accompanied by
residents of village Devpuri and Sai Vatika Residency of the area, submitted
memorandum to Collector Siddharth Komal Pardeshi pertaining to water crisis in
the locality on Monday.
Sharma informed that the people of Devpuri
were facing acute water crisis for a long time and the condition aggravates
during summer.
Notably, several Devpuri residents were
arrested when they had demonstrated strongly demanding proper drinking water
supply in their area last year.
Considering public agitation, although the
district administration had made a makeshift arrangement of water supply
through tankers in the area, it did not take firm step to permanently solve
problem.
Sharma informed that usually ponds,
borewells and wells get dry in summer escalating water crisis problem in the
locality. “By far, water in ponds was being filled through canals but now the
ongoing construction works under Kamal Vihar project is obstructing water
supply through this mode,” he added.
He asked the Collector to make immediate
arrangement of water supply in Devpuri through tankers besides filing ponds,
laying pipelines to provide tap connections to every house and installing taps
at major road intersections.
He warned the district administration of
demonstrating with empty vessels if the problems of Devpuri residents would not
be addressed quickly.
While submitting memorandum, Sharma was
