Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has asked state government to
change name of Sanjeevni 108 express ambulances to national ambulance service
(NAS) as directed by the Centre.
“The IYC will launch aggressive agitation
in state if the government will not change the name of Sanjeevni 108 by May 1,”
said the organisation’s general secretary Vikas Upadhyay on Thursday.
“The emergency medical transport system is
fully sponsored by the Centre under its ambitious scheme – national rural
health mission (NRHM). However, the state governments including Chhattisgarh
are claiming this scheme as their own and deceiving people. Hence the Centre
has asked state governments to name all such ambulances as NAS,” he said.
