Govt wants to hide facts about cement plant case: Jogi

Raipur, April 09, 2013

Senior Congress legislator Ajit Jogi on Tuesday alleged that the government was trying to hide facts about Durg-based underconstrcution JK Laxmi cement plant incident by announcing probe into it through ADG level officer of Economic Offence Wing (EOW).

“The government was expected to conduct judicial probe into the matter but it has decided to hand it over to EOW’s ADG level officer. Certainly, it does not want disclose facts,” Jogi said.

He charged that the government had narrowed down gamut of the probe by selecting just a few points.
“To elicit facts, the inquiring officer should consider almost all aspects of the incident like – on whose directive the plant location was changed from Semaria to Malpuri Khurd, which government official issued construction orders after location of the plant changed, was labour department aware that the plant had hired outsider labourers, if the plant’s machineries were insured then the name of insurance company should be made public and what information did Central excise department had regarding value of plant’s machineries,” he said.

Jogi alleged that the incident took place due to conspiracy of plant management and ruling party’s corrupt leaders. “Chhattisgarh’s labourers are peaceful and hardworking and they give shape to such incident. It is also evident from media reports that innocent villagers are being implicated in false case and consequently several villagers have migrated,” he said.
