NSUI has demanded replacement of folk artistes with cheer
girls in two Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches slated to be held on
April 28 and May 1. In this connection, former NSUI state president Sanjeev
Shukla and others submitted memorandum to Collector Siddharth Komal Singh
Pardeshi on Wednesday.
“Instead of vulgarity on the name of cheer
girls, it would be better if local folk artistes would opportunity to display
their skills during IPL events,” said Shukla after meeting Collector.
The NSUI has also advocated for provision
of Chhattisgarhi commentary during IPL matches.
The NSUI has warned of launching
aggressive agitation before offices of state culture department, sports
directorate and GMR – the organiser of IPL matches if its demands would be
ignored.
While submitting memorandum Shukla was
accompanied by Ritesh Tripathi, Pranav Shukla, Golu Gawli, Arun Singh, Shahrukh
Asharfi, Sheikh Asif, Raja Bhattar, Siddhant Tiwari, Ayush Agrawal, etc.
