Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh and union minister of
state for parliamentary affairs V Narayanasamy contradicted each other on
responsibility to deal Maoism while they were talking to scribes at Congress
Bhawan on Tuesday. While Ramesh felt that Centre and states should take
collective responsibility to deal naxalism, Narayanasamy termed it as local issue
and said the state governments were supposed to handle it.
Terming
naxalism as national problem Ramesh said both Centre and states would have to
play equal role in eradicating it. Narayanasamy, on the other, said Maoism was
a law and order issue and should strictly dealt by the state governments.
