Congress on Friday demanded high-level inquiry into Swagat Vihar land
scam. Alleging that the government was protecting entire racket that gave shape
to land scam, the Congress business cell president Kanhaiyya Agrawal demanded
high-level probe into the matter.
Notably, builder Sanjay Bajpai had encroached several
acres of government lands to develop his ambitious residential project Swagat
Vihar in Raipur.
As the land scam surfaced, Bajpai decamped with his family members. He
surrendered before court on June 13 when police issued arrest warrant against
him.
“Bajpai sold plots to many people claiming ownership
of government lands. It is a major scam
in which besides Bajpai, one minister and host of revenue officials were
involved. Surprisingly, the government suspended only one official in
connection to this scam. We want it to register criminal case against all the
guilty persons,” Agrawal said.
He asked why town and country planning department
passed layouts of Swagat Vihar without verification. “If the government has
suspended town planner Zahid Ali finding him guilty into the matter then why no
case has been filed against him by far,” he questioned.
He said the government should also tell how fake
layouts were passed when KP Bajpayee was town planner. “We also want to know on
whose pressure the illegal workers were done and which officials were involved
into the scam,” he added.
He said government should hand over the matter to an
independent agency so that people who have invested money in buying plots in
Swagat Vihar may get justice.
He said the cell would also take initiative into the
matter and hold meeting of Swagat Vihar victims to chalk out the plan to obtain
justice for them.
