Congress on Friday alleged
that government was downplaying Swagat Vihar land scam by merely suspending one
official.
“It is a major scam in
which besides builder Sanjay Bajpai, one minister and several officials of
revenue department were involved. The government cannot rub its hands just by
taking action against one official. It should rather file criminal case against
all the guilty persons,” said the Congress business cell president Kanhaiyya
Agrawal.
Bajpai, who was declared
as fugitive by the police which had issued arrest warrant against him for
encroaching several acres of government lands for his Swagat Vihar project, surrendered
before court on June 13.
Agrawal alleged that the
government deliberately stalled action against Bajpai to protect the guilty
minister and revenue officials.
“Or else, why the
government took two years in taking action against Bajpai? Evidently, it asked
the police to issue arrest warrant against this fugitive fearing public
outburst against it,” he said.
Demanding high-level probe
into Swagat Vihar land scam, Agrawal said the government should ensure none of
the guilty persons including Bajpai be spared.
