Holds talks with Mahant,
Choubey
Raipur, June 10, 2013
The state Congress
will restart its ambition parivartan yatra from Keshloor on June 16. In this
connection, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi convened a significant meeting
of acting PCC president Charandas Mahant and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey at AICC
headquarters New Delhi on Monday and took a decision that the party should go
ahead with its incomplete yatra from the same spot where it had left due to May
25-naxal attack on its leaders.
The meeting was also
attended by Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi’s political advisor Ahmed Patel, AICC
media chairman Janardan Dwivedi and Chhattisgarh Congress incharge BK
Hariprasada.
Gandhi himself will attend
concluding public rally of the yatra in Jagdalpur. Before May 25 incident, the
party was scheduled to conclude its yatra in Raipur.
Gandhi said the party’s
state leadership should ensure yatra convoy gets adequate security in Bastar
region.
In the meeting, Gandhi
also reviewed decisions taken by late PCC president Nandkumar Patel and Choubey.
He asked Mahant and
Choubey to complete yatra in June 2013 and then chalk out plan to constitute
booth-level committees in every assembly constituency.
Expressing his concern
over Bastar’s conditions, he has decided to discuss about it with party’s district
heads of the region on June 14. To convey decisions taken in Delhi meeting, Mahant will conduct meeting of
PCC office-bearers at Congress Bhawan on June 12 and 13.
