Union minister of state for agriculture and food processing industries and acting PCC president Charandas Mahant will convene three important meetings of party office-bearers at Congress Bhawan on June 17 and 18. The party was earlier scheduled to hold these meeting on June 12 and 13 but had to extend the dates due to demise of veteran party leader Vidya Charan Shukla.

Further, the party leadership will also ask the PCC office-bearers to increase membership campaign across the state considering nearing assembly polls.

Besides, the party also plans to organise tribute programmes for its deceased leaders, who lost their lives during May 25-naxal attack, in different parts of the state. In this connection, Mahant is likely to issue fresh directives to the PCC office-bearers’ during the three meetings.

The meeting on June 17 will commence at 12 pm and the participants will be PCC vice presidents, general secretaries, treasurer, head of media department, and heads of all frontal organisations.

The first meeting on June 18 will be convened at 12 and the participants will be presidents of district Congress committees (DCCs).

At 2 pm, Mahant will hold second meeting that will be attended by heads of DCCs and block Congress committees (BCCs). Mahant has reportedly asked BCC heads to bring activity registers of their blocks not only to review their previous works but also to delegate new assignments according to the decision by the party in its June 17 meeting.
