Cong asks govt to issue white paper on vikas yatra spending

Raipur, June 21, 2013

Congress on Friday asked government to issue white paper on previous and proposed expenditures of its vikas yatra. The party alleged that the BJP was once again planning to misuse government machinery to take political mileage from the yatra by restarting it.
The party also objected over decision taken by BJP working committee regarding yatra’s fresh schedule. “How can a political party fix dates of the government programme? This proves that the BJP intends exploit the government machinery again. In this connection, we had earlier complained to state election commission on May 5, 2013 and sought action against BJP,” said acting PCC chief Charandas Mahant and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.
They said development works would get affected by vikas yatra as had happened earlier. “How will the government carry development works when it the entire machinery will be engaged in vikas yatra,” they asked.
They said none of the government’s announcements in vikas yatra would come to practical reality due to monsoon season and code of conduct that would come into effect after rains.
They said the vikas yatra would prove vinash yatra (disaster tour) for Raman Singh government.
