Mahant warns Congmen: Stop blamegame or face action

Says now no place of factionalism in party

Raipur, June 08, 2013

Union minister of state and acting PCC chief Charandas Mahant and party’s programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday warned Congmen to stop entangling in game of allegations and counter-allegations against each other or be prepared to face stern action.

“In this time of deep anguish and grief, the partymen are expected to control their emotions and remain in discipline. Since probe into May 25 incident is still underway, the partymen should refrain from giving unsolicited statements and levelling allegations against each other. As derogatory statements against senior party leaders come under disciplinary radar, the state unit will not tolerate such type of indiscipline,” the duo said a day after meeting their national leaders at New Delhi.

The duo further made it evident that there was no place of factionalism in the party. “Now, there is no place for those in party who work against each other. In addition, nobody is allowed to hurt anybody’s feeling,” they said adding that the message had been conveyed to them by party’s national leaders.

They said the sole aim of the Congress was to dethrone BJP government in upcoming assembly polls.

“We will more aggressively attack the BJP government on issues like corruption and bad governance. To re-establish democracy in Chhattisgarh, especially in Bastar, the Congress is committed to work unitedly and bring change in state,” they added.

Mahant, who met party supremo Sonia Gandhi and union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on June 7 at New Delhi, is said to be satisfied by the meeting as he had reportedly been asked to steer the state unit according to his discretion under guidance of Chhattisgarh Congress incharge BK Hariprasada and AICC treasurer Motilal Vora.
