Union minister of state and acting PCC president Charandas Mahant will
meet Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi at New Delhi on June 6. This
will be his first meeting after he got reins of Chhattisgarh Congress.
After
being announced as acting PCC chief on June 3 Mahant had said he would meet Gandhis
and seek their guidance in making roadmap for state unit so that the Congress
could regain power in Chhattisgarh.
In
the meeting, Mahant will also brief Gandhis about PCC’s decision to continue
parivartan yatra and is likely to invite the duo to participate in it.
Mahant
is also reported to meet Chhattisgarh Congress incharge BK Hariprasada and AICC
treasurer Motilal Vora during his New
Delhi visit. According to information, the trio will
discuss about yatra’s schedules and prepare list of national leaders who could
be roped in it so that the party could get draw maximum response in each of its
public rallies.
The
party is no mood to spare the ruling BJP in wake of May 25 Darbha incident and
is planning to strongly raise security lapse issue during the yatra. To gain
public sympathy, the party also plans to paste large posters of deceased
Congress leaders in parivartan yatra bus and other vehicles so that a message
could be conveyed to the public that they died due to government’s negligent
attitude.
