Hailing Rs 60 hike in
minimum support price (MSP) of paddy by Centre, the Congress on Friday said the
farmers of Chhattisgarh would now get additional benefit of Rs 36 crore from
the latest announcement.
“About 60
lakh tonne paddy has been procured this years under MSP in state. With hike in
paddy MSP by Rs 60, the state farmers will get added benefit of Rs 36 crore,”
said acting PCC chief Charandas Mahant and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.
They said as
compared to paddy MSP hike by Congress-led UPA government in two terms, i.e. by
Rs 450 and Rs 410, the BJP-led NDA government increased the support price by
just Rs 60 in five years of its regime. This shows BJP’s anti-farmer face,”
they said.
“Now its turn
of state BJP government to follow the suit and fulfill the promise it made in
its election manifesto in 2008 assembly polls to disburse Rs 270 paddy bonus to
the farmers for five years. Let the government instantly disburse pending paddy
bonus amount of Rs 3880 crore to the farmers,” they said.
