Union minister of state and acting PCC president Charandas Mahant has
prohibited welcome programmes of party leaders in district and blocks.
PCC general
secretary Subhash Sharma on Wednesday sent a circular in this regard to al the
district and block heads. In the circular he wrote not to organise welcome
programmes (garlanding, hiring of bands and bursting crackers, etc) for party
leaders and office-bearers.
Besides, he asked
the DCC and BCC presidents to put images of all the leaders and workers who
lost their lives during naxal attack on Congress parivartan yatra convoy at
Jiram valley in Darbha region on May 25, 2013.
Sources say
the party is in no mood of wasting time on the name of welcome programmes during
its forthcoming events and wants to concentrate in cashing in on May
25-incident through yatras and campaigns.
The circular
is also said to be a broader message to the partymen to avoid celebrating small
moments and gear up to take more significant challenge of defeating ruling BJP
in upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.
