Congress has demanded instant ban on sale of gutkha containing nicotine.
In this connection, a delegation of PCC’s jhuggi jhopdi cell led by its former
state president Sheikh Shakeel submitted a memorandum to Collector Siddharth Komal
Pardeshi on Tuesday.
“The government
has prohibited sale of gutkha containing nicotine much earlier, however the
district administrations are not implementing it strictly,” Shakeel said.
He pointed
that people were buying gutkha at higher rate as the local businessmen were
bringing tobacco products from other states.
He alleged
that the government had given liberty to the local businessmen to do
blackmarketing of gutkha by banning it.
The
delegation warned of gheraoing responsible officials if the district
administration does not implements ban on gutkha sale strictly.
