Raipur, March 15, 2012

Chief Minister Raman Singh says that not more than 40 km rail track has been laid in past 60 years while 432 km rail track will be laid in next 60 months. “This will happen due to our propose rail corridor project which has been included by the Union Railway Minister in 2012-13 Rail budget,” said Singh while proposing vote of thanks on Governor’s address during Vidhan Sabha’s budget session on Thursday.
“The rail corridor will link seven districts of the state. It will come constructed through public private partnership (PPP) model which has been prepared by the Chhattisgarh government. For the rail corridor, the state government has entered signed a pact with the Railway Ministry. Like road network, the rail corridor will also increase development in the regions which would be linked by it,” Singh said.
“On naxal issue he said, “We have clear thought – we want peace and development, but will through full might in combating violence.”
On Governor’s speech he said it reflected the government’s policies which were conspicuous like open book. “This is the reason Chhattisgarh successfully achieved every milestone of development and won wide appreciation,” he added.
He said the government aimed to general 1500 MW additional power through its own resources by December 2012. He further said that Chhattisgarh would become one of the top three most developed states only through the joint effort.
He said his government was not self-obsessed but its policies had won it wide approval. “The Supreme Court has termed our public distribution system (PDS) ideal. The World Bank too has praised our PDS. The Union Ministers like P Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh and Dinesh Trivedi appreciate our policy, schemes and achievements during their state visits,” he said.
He informed that the paddy procurement procedure has improved in last 12 years. “In 2001-02, the government was purchasing 5-6 lakh MT paddy but currently it has procured 59 lakh MT paddy,” he said.
He also claimed that the state’s crop production increased due to government’s effective agricultural policy.
