Flaying the government for making promises and not fulfilling them the leader of the opposition at state Assembly Ravindra Choubey says that none of parks meant for food, gem, metal, software technology, etc had come out of papers in nine years, an apparent indicator of the ruling party’s seriousness in pursuing developmental works in the state. “Unfortunately, the government has failed to develop any such park and has rather made the state as loot park,” slammed Choubey while debating on Governor’s speech during the ongoing budget session of Vidhan Sabha on Thursday.
“The government has neither acquired lands nor has invited relevant investors for its ambitious parks,” he said.
He said the overall development in the state was missing. “If the development in government’s eyes is anarchy, ego clashes between ministers and officials, land scams, rising naxalism, seizure of rocket launchers, etc then it is going astray,” he said.
“Rather, the development should have been fostered in education, health, agriculture sectors. Various measures should have been taken to uplift farmers, poor villagers and labourers working in farm fields,” he added pointing that the government could make only 14 lakh smart cards in two years as against the given target of 32 lakhs.
Raising IPS officer Rahul Sharma’s suicidal case he said the government should tell why such circumstances appeared in the state. “Be it anarchy or terrorism, the state administration is untrammelled,” he said.
On power sector he said the government policies were aimed to benefit the industrialists as were obvious by its proposal to hike power tariff of domestic consumers by 30 percent and that of farmers by twofold.
On law and order he said, “The law is for poor, nor for industrialists. People are scared of going to police stations. The tehsil and other offices have become corruption hub. In Uttar Pradesh there was one Ponty Chaddha but in Chhattisgarh there are many.
On agriculture sector he said except sugar factory in Kawardha, the government had nothing to boast. He further said that the government should first fulfill its previously made promise of disbursement of Rs 270 paddy bonus to the farmers. “Include this with the Agriculture budget. Also include crop insurance for the farmers as many have not received despite scarce production,” he demanded.
On health sector he pointed that several posts of doctors were vacant. He further targeted government on less participation of state candidates in PSC exam. “In this exam, only 30 percent of the state candidates participated while 70 percent were outsiders. Is this a way the government want to provide job opportunities to its youth,” he asked.
He also raised the issue of illegal liquor sale asked how the aggregate revenue from liquor sale increased when the government claims to have closed several liquor shops.
He further targeted Forest Minister pointing that his department was full of scams and he simply rub his hands by announcing probe into every scam. “Till how long will this happen? This department has no achievement except scams,” he said.
Earlier, he termed the Governor’s speech as dull and repetitive. “Even the ministers were sleeping during Governor’s speech,” he said.
“The government is self-obsessed as is clear by the content Governor’s speech contained. The government even put wrong figures in that content,” he said.
