About 2530 consumers have not paid power bills over Rs 25000 within Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) limits as on January 2012. Chief Minister Raman Singh imparted this information in the form of a written reply to a starred question of Congress legislator Kuldeep Singh Juneja during the budget session of state Assembly on Tuesday.
Juneja sought information from the CM regarding total number of consumers against whom power bill over Rs 25000 was outstanding and the action taken against them by the power company.
The CM informed that 1606 domestic and 924 commercial consumers had not paid power bill over Rs 25000.
He further informed that the power had disconnected the power connections of 2355 defaulters out of 2530 while action was being taken against 173 others. Similarly, power connections of two defaulters could not be disconnected due to relevant cases being pending in the court.
The CM said the power company also take action against the defaulters under Dues Recovery Act 1961 if they do not pay their outstanding bills despite disconnection of their power connections. In this connection, the power company has by far issued B Form and C Form to 1115 and 657 consumers respectively.
