Govt opened 1857 grain banks: Mohle


Raipur, Durg do not have any grain bank

Raipur, March 20, 2012

Food Minister Punnulal Mohle has informed that the government had opened 1857 grain banks in different parts of the state. Mohle’s information came in the form of a written reply to a starred question of BJP legislator Phoolchand Singh during the ongoing budget session of state Assembly on Tuesday.
Singh also asked the minister to provide district-wise volume of grain banks. Besides, he asked the total number of beneficiaries who received food grains from the grain banks.
Mohle informed that by far the government had provided food grains to 81687 needy people through grain banks.
He further informed that Raipur and Durg district do not have any grain bank. While the number of grain banks in other districts is - Kawardha has 91, Kanker – 109, Kondagaon – 80, Korba – 164, Koria – 80, Gariyaband – 50, Jashpur – 160, Janjgir – 19, Dantewada – 36, Dhamtari – 31, Narayanpur – 36, Bemetara – 12, Balrampur – 145, Balodabazar – 53, Bastar – 133, Balod – 18, Bilaspur – 62, Bijapur – 43, Mungeli – 45, Mahasamund – 26, Rajnandgaon – 109, Raigarh – 98, Sukma – 66, Sarguja -89 and Surajpur – 102.
