A non-governmental resolution to construct fourlane road on NH-43 (Raipur-Jagdalpur) road was passed unanimously passed in during budget session of Vidhan Sabha on Friday. Now, the government will send the proposal for the fourlane project to the Centre for approval.
The governmental resolution was tabled by BJP legislator Santosh Bafna who said that NH-43 was lifeline of Bastar division as the people largely depend on road transportation in the region. “From routine transportation to business and other activities are being done through this road and hence its upgradation into fourlane would make the travel comfortable,” he said.
He also pointed that NH-43 was the only road to link south India. “Whether it is Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Vijaywada or other South Indian cities, the NH-43 links Chhattisgarh with the entire southern India,” he said.
He urged the House that since the resolution was meant for convenience of public, the House should pass it unanimously.
The Congress legislator Haridas Bhardwaj also supported resolution and said the Bastar division was geographically equal to Kerala state and hence it deserved upgradation of NH-43 into fourlane considering the traffic pressure on it.
He further sought amendment in the resolution and suggested that the Raipur-Jagdalpur fourlane road should contain concrete road from Kanker to Jagdalpur.
Supporting the resolution, the BJP legislator Devji Bhai Patel said the road networks bring development and construction of fourlane on NH-43 would surely pacify Bastar development.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Hemchand Yadav too felt too urged the House to pas the resolution unanimously on which the members from ruling and opposition parties gave their consent.
