BJP legislator Narayan Chandel has said that budget
2012-13 is dedicated to the farmers. “The provision of loan to farmers at one
percent rate of interest (ROI) will be major step for farm sector,” he said
while speaking during debate on the budget at Vidhan Sabha on Monday.
“During Congress regime, the farmers were getting loan
at 12 percent ROI, but when the BJP came into power, it continuously slashed the
ROI to 9%, 6%, 3% and now 1%. This has been done to benefit the farmers,” he
said.
He further said that the government had never played
with the figures but had rather tried to implement schemes at ground level.
He said the government had taken various initiatives
for the common man. Praising provision of health insurance for all the families
of the state, Chandel said Chhattisgarh will become the only state in the
country which would issue smart card to every family.
He also appreciated the government for taking
extensive steps in improving education sector. “The government succeeded in
expanding education programmes to remote rural pockets because of its effective
policies,” he said.
During his speech, Congress legislators Dr Shiv Kumar
Daharia and other opposition members interrupted him and said the government
had not disbursed Rs 270 paddy bonus to the farmers despite promising them
during 2008 elections.
The BJP legislators Virendra Kumar Sahu, Renuka Singh
and Domanlal Korsewada also praised the budget and said the government made
wider provision for farmers. Renuka Singh said the BJP government with its good
governance imparted unique identity to Chhattisgarh state at national level.
The other BJP legislators who participated in the
debate on budget were Kheduram Sahu, Ramji Bharti, Phoolchand Singh, Deepak
Patel and Sumitra Markole.
