Congress has demanded from government for prioritisation
to locals in Shikshakarmi recruitments. Congress legislator Shivraj Singh Usare
put this demand while debating on Governor’s speech during the ongoing budget
session of state Assembly on Thursday.
Usare pointed that candidates from urban areas,
especially from capital and other major cities of the state get selected as
Shikshakarmis in remote rural areas but they either they do not join the
schools or remain absent majority of the time.
“This affects the studies of the schools and hence the
government should prefer the locals during Shikshakarmi recruitment, especially
in Sarguja and Bastar,” said Usare adding that his legislative area Mohla
Manpur too needed similar consideration.
Pointing towards constitution of nine new districts in
the state Usare said the government should have considered few more regions
including his legislative area for district status.
“Although the government boasts of development and
provision of adequate facilities in rural pockets, my region even lack the
basic infrastructure. There is only one tehsildar for three tehsils – Mohla,
Manpur and Chowki. This causes inconvenience to the people, prominently farmers,”
he said.
Speaking on proposed Agriculture budget slated to be
presented separately for the first in the history of Chhattisgarh, he reminded
the government of its promise made in its poll manifesto back in 2008 regarding
distribution of Rs 270 paddy bonus to the farmers.
On power sector, he pointed that it was an irony that
the people of the power surplus state were compelled to face frequent power cut
situation.
“In my region, the power was cut when Chhattisgarh
State Electricity regulatory Commission (CSERC) had organised public hearing,”
he jeered.
He also took a dig at the government for proposed hike
in power tariff by terming it as an injustice to the farmers.
