Congress on Friday expressed its concern over public security in the Vidhan Sabha indicating that the government had not filed case against majority of the accused of different criminal cases.
Senior opposition member Nandkumar Patel attacked the government for taking the rising crime non-seriously. “If late Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Sharma’s wife holds the system responsible for her spouse’s suicidal act then the system has completely failed,” he said while debating on grant demands for supplementary budget. If the government has tabled supplementary budget then we want it to make use of the given funds properly. “The security of life and property is must and there should be no compromise in it,” he said.
He asked the government to file case under section 306 of IPC against the Station House Officer (SHO) under whose area SP Sharma committed suicide.
He alleged that the government do not really intend to hand over the investigation of Sharma suicide case to the CBI.
“Whether it was suicide or murder would only be decided after probe. But if the government will hand over the case to CBI after registering death complaint then the latter will return it. And the government want the case to be returned,” he said.
He said the government was not even interested to penalise the guilty people of Balod eye camp incident. “Or else, why did not the government lodge case against the guilty people under section 304(A) of IPC,” he asked.
Patel cited example of few more major criminal cases in the state and said in all of them the government had not taken initiative to register case against the accused people.
“Will the government take action against the accused in different crimes only when the public interest litigations (PILs) will be filed,” he asked.
He also alleged that in public hearings, the Collectors suppress the voices of the common people through security personnel.
“Anarchy prevails in the state and hence SP Sharma killed himself under pressure,” he charged. He demanded from the House to relax all the rules for comprehensive discussion on Sharma suicide case.
