Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Unit Charandas Mahant has condemned lathicharge of people of tribal community while they were on way to gherao Vidhan Sabha in favour of their demands on March 19.
Terming action against tribals undemocratic Mahant said, “Chhattisgarh is a tribal populated state and the government cannot suppress the voice of tribals in this manner.”
He alleged that the Raman Singh government was snatching the rights of the tribals by taking action against them. “It is regrettable that the BJP formed the government on the basis of tribal votes but is not ready to heed their demands,” he said.
Mahant also criticised Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar for not preventing police in lathicharging tribals despite belonging to tribal community himself.
