Power tariff hike: Cong burns CM’s effigy

Protesting police action against Congress workers during public hearing of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC) on proposed power tariff hike on March 2, the Congress burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Raman Singh at dharna spot near Sport Complex Budhapara on Saturday.
Later, DCC Raipur Urban president Inderchand Dhariwal said that government’s repressive action would not be tolerated as the Congress workers were protesting peacefully and demanding no hike in power tariff. He said the 30 percent power tariff hike would imbalance monthly budget of the middle class families.
On the occasion were present DCC members Yogesh Tiwari, Sheikh Shakeel, Madan Lal Taleda, Samir Akhtar, Radheshyam Vibhar, Dinesh Tiwari, Sandeep Tiwari, Sakshi Sirmour, Pankaj Thakur, Virendra Dewangan, Prakash Ramteke, etc.
