Former Education Minister and senior Congress leader Satyanarayan Sharma has alleged that the government was apathetic towards education sector. “The government has failed to conduct major examinations transparently. This has directly affected the spirit of the candidates who do hard work but eventually but the government compels to cancel the exams due to controversy. After PMT paper leak episode, the headmasters’ exam is in controversy as the High Court has cancelled it,” Sharma said.
“It is surprising that the government do even know the rules to conduct specific exams as a consequence of which the candidates have to suffer. This is happening due to administrative anarchy in the state. The education sector is in dejected condition presently,” he charged.
“The HC has directed the state government to make amendments in recruitment procedures and do the recruitments again after cancelling 20000 appointments done by the government against 22500 vacant posts of headmasters through advertisements. Now, the candidates will have to again prepare for the headmasters exam. The inconvenience faced by thousands of the candidates is certainly a glaring example of the government’s negligent and irresponsible attitude,” Sharma said.
He said the exams organised by the government had lost their credibility. “The government is simply playing with the future of the candidates,” he added.
He pointed towards charges of huge irregularities in recent appointment of headmasters. “Besides, the quota system was also ignored,” he said.
“The government organised headmasters’ exam at different dates in different districts. In the end, selection list was issued. But when corruption charges were levelled in issuance of selection list, new amended list was released. In some districts, direct recruitment was done ignoring reservation system. Considering all these factors, the entire exam and recruitment procedure of headmasters mired in controversy and consequently the HC ordered for its cancellation,” Sharma elaborated.
