YC launches signature drive to oppose power tariff hike

Raipur, March 01, 2012

The Youth Congress (YC) on Thursday launched signature drive to oppose proposed power tariff hike. The YC members led by their Raipur North general secretary Dilip Singh Chouhan commenced signature drive from Jaistambh Chowk.
Later, Chouhan said the public hearings organised Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC) were being attended largely by politicians while the common people could not have their say. “Hence we decided to take signature of the common people who oppose power tariff hike,” said Chouhan.
He informed that the YC members would hand over large piece of cloth, carrying signature of the people, to CSERC officials during its next public hearing on Friday and Saturday (March 2 and 3).
“We will also urge commission not to hike power tariff and respect sentiments of the people,” Chouhan added.
He said the YC would warn the CSERC of launch offence against the government in phased manner if the power tariff would be hiked.
In signature campaign, Chouhan was accompanied by Shiekh Shakeel, Bakar Abbas, Akhilesh Joshi, Sheikh Imran, Ashish Nand, Prakash Ramteke, Pawan Bundela, Raju Goswami, Bachchan Yadav, etc.
