House passes budgetary demands for PWD, School Education, Tourism, Culture, Religious Trust and Religion departments through voice vote

Admits that road conditions poor due to low bidding rates

PWD, School Education, Tourism, Culture, Religious Trust and Religion Minister Brijmohan Agrawal on Thursday said in state Assembly that Rajim kumbh had imparted new identity to Chhattisgarh at national and international arenas. He said his government was poised to develop tourism and culture sectors take the state to new heights. He also admitted that the condition of roads in state was inferior due to low bidding rates in the backdrop of high competition between contractors. Agrawal was speaking during provision of budgetary demands for PWD, School Education, Tourism, Culture, Religious Trust and Religion departments. The House passed budgetary demands of Rs 5026.22 crore for these departments through voice vote.
Agrawal declared in the House that the mobile labs would be commenced to check to quality of roads.
To smoothen road traffic in Raipur, he announced new road from Lalpur to railway station over canal. He also announced that air conditioners would be installed in capital city’s Shaheed Smarak Bhawan. He said the Vidhan Sabha road would be developed as prototype. Similarly, he declared that six-lane road would be constructed from Dharampura to Mana airport for convenience of people.
He admitted that the PMSGY roads were in abject condition and had not been repaired for the past four years. “The government will take loan of Rs 800 crore from NABARD to repair and make over 1000 rural roads new,” he said.
The PWD has also made provision of repairing 11 main roads of the state through built-operate-transfer (BOT) system. The PWD will also construct 16 railway overbridges and 13 underbridges.
He informed the House that the government was attempting for inclusion of Sirpur among the list of world heritage places as 32 hillocks of the region were being excavated, highest in the country.
He declared Rs 25 lakh for development of main tourist spot of Koria district – Amritdhara. To encourage artistes and provide them wider platform to hone their skills, an auditorium would be constructed near Indira Gandhi Agriculture University (IGAU) Raipur.
He claimed that the state was ahead of national average in terms of development in education sector. He said computer education would be imparted in 1900 schools from next academic session. He claimed that the School Education had improved the examination pattern.
He informed the House that like girls, boys up to class X too would receive books gratis. He informed that Sanskrit course would be started in 57 more schools from next academic session.
Agrawal made a couple of more announcements under Religious Trust and Religion as well as Parliamentary Affairs departments. He informed the House that the honorariums of pujaris and sewadars would be from Rs 1000 to 2000 and Rs from 600 to Rs 1200 respectively.
Similarly, he increased the grants being given to Mansarovar pilgrims from Rs 25000 to Rs 50000. The honorariums of majhis and chalkis during Bastar Dussera will also be increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1000 and from Rs 300 to Rs 500 respectively. The minister further announced to construct temple of Rajim mata at Rajim at the cost of Rs 50 lakh.
For MLAs, he announced insurance of Rs 10 lakh, vehicle loan of Rs 10 lakh (from existing Rs 7 lakh) and house loan of Rs 15 lakh (from existing Rs 10 lakh).
The debate was participated by legislators - Shakrajeet Nayak, Premsai Singh Tekam, Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia, Devendra Bahadur Singh, Pratima Chandrakar, Sumitra Markole, Devji Bhai Patel, Santosh Bafna, Bramhanand and Dr Krishnamurthy Bandhi, Kawasi Lakhma, Rajni Tripathi, Shivraj Singh Usare, Doojram Boudh, Laxmi Baghel, Saurabh Singh, Agni Chandrakar, Bheema Mandavi, Ambika Markam, Amarjeet Bhagat, Sewak Ram Netam, Deepak Patel and Dharmjeet Singh.
