Now grievance redressal camps to be organised twice in a month

Minister for Public Grievance Redressal Department Vikram Usendi has directed all the Collectors to organise public grievance redressal camps at least twice a month in their respective districts. He said the Collectors should mandatorily present in the camps to solve the problems of the people. Usendi’s directives came while he was reviewing the progress department’s works in 2011 till August 31 through video conferencing at Mantralaya on Monday.
He instructed that the pending applications sent from different departments should be cleared in one month. He said the Collectors should ensure cent percent redressal of the grievances by reviewing the applications department-wise. He said attempt would be made to tighten the functioning of Public Grievance Redressal Department in future.
He said the grievance applications should be cleared promptly pointing that people go to ministers, Prime Minister and even to President of India seeking their intervention in connection to their problems. If the department finds any application unacceptable under certain rules then it should instantly inform about it to the applicant instead of putting it in the pending list.
Usendi said grievance redressal register should be mandatorily kept in the department’s Mantralaya office as well as in all its field offices. It would be the responsibility of the office heads to ensure redressal of all the registered complaints timely, he added.
In the meeting, the officials informed Usendi that the department had redressed 11931 complaints out of 20978 received from Chief Minister’s secretariat till August 31, 2011. Similarly, 1850 grievances had been redressed out of 3021 received from President, Prime Minister and Governor secretariats.
In 2011, about 186 grievance redressal camps were organised across the state. About 67569 complaints were redressed out of 76779 received from different departments through these camps, the officials said.
The department has also successfully redressed over 4.33 lakh complaints out of about 4.50 lakh applications received during government’s gram suraj campaign in April 2011.
The minister said forwarding an application from one department to other would not be considered redressal of a grievance and the relevant officials would have to consistently monitor the received applications till each of them is redressed.
