Naya Raipur, Dhamtari to be linked thru broad gauge

The proposed broad gauge rail line which will replace the existing narrow gauge from Raipur to Dhamtari will also link Naya Raipur. The rail line will link Mandir Hasaud, Naya Raipur, Kendri, Rajim and Dhamtari. The estimated cost of this project is about Rs 89 crore and expected time period of its completion is two years.
Presently, Mandir Hasaud railway station comes under Bhubaneshwar railway zone. The South East Central Railway (SECR) has urged the state government to send a proposal to the Centre to put Mandir Hasaud under SECR so that it could be developed into a junction.
The broad gauge rail line will be presently laid to Dhamtari and it would be linked to Bastar in the second phase through a new project. For this, the SECR has started making preparations and hopes to get final approval from the Railway Ministry soon.
The railway will also accomplish the task of laying third rail line from Hathband-Tilda-Baikunth by December 2011. Thereafter, this line would be laid up to Urkura by October-November 2012. In the end, this line would be laid from Durg to Rajnandgaon after being approved by the Railway Ministry.
