Rajyotsav 2011 to be organised at Science College from Nov 1

The government has clarified that Rajyotsav 2011 would be organised at Science College from November 1-7, 2011.Earlier, it was speculated that Rajyotsav would be organised this year at Naya Raipur. Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen convened a high-level meeting regarding preparation of Rajyotsav 2011 at Mantralaya on Monday. 
Notably, Rajyotsav – the annual week-long state festival, which is organised every year on the occasion of its foundation day, exhibits the achievements of government different departments besides giving information about sundry schemes and projects.  
Oommen said Rajyotsav in other districts would be celebrated from November 2-4. On November 1, all the government buildings would be illuminated. Oommen has issued stern instructions to the officials of all the departments to accomplish the given assignments timely.
Raipur Collector would be given the responsibility to distribute invitation cards for Rajyotsav 2011. Traffic arrangements and security of the festival ground would be dealt by police administration.
Fire fighting and drinking water arrangements, sanitation as well as other basic facilities would be provided by Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC). Similarly, the Public Works Department (PWD) will look after the roads inside festival ground.  
Oommen has asked all department heads to send the list of selected people for felicitation at Rajyotsav to Culture department by October 20. This year, the government would also give citation to the people who would be felicitated at festival ground. He further instructed that one official from each department should be nominated for nodal officer to coordinate with the Rajyotsav programmes.
Like every year, this year too, attractive programmes would be organised every day during Rajyotsav festival.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar, Principal Secretary Finance Ajay Singh, Principal Secretary Food Vivek Dhand, Principal Secretary Agriculture DS Mishra, Principal Secretary PWD MK Rowt, Principal Secretary Home NK Aswal, Principal Secretary DPR N Baijendra Kumar, DGP Anil Navani, Secretary Raj Bhavan Jawahar Shrivastava, Director DPR Ashok Agrawal and other senior officials.
