Rubbished the charges of RMC Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak that the BJP had not taken formal permission from the municipal for party veteran LK Advani’s public rally at Madhav Rao Sapre School ground, the BJP Raipur district (Urban) president Ashok Pandey said the partymen started preparation at proposed venue only after obtaining NOC from municipal commissioner RS Toppo.
“The BJP had given application to the RMC regarding Advani rally on October 11. Toppo gave permission for the rally on October 17. On Tuesday (i.e. October 18), the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) also gave permission for the rally. Hence the allegations of Mayor that we have not taken RMC consent are baseless,” said Pandey.
“The apex court’s order apparently says that the sports grounds can be given for other purposes during holidays. On this basis, the BJP applied for the Sapre ground and got permission,” he said.
