Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU) Karmachari Sangh on Monday started hunger strike in favour of their 16-point demand. On the first day, union president Shravan Singh Thakur, secretary Pradeep Kumar Mishra and treasurer Basant Kumar Ausar sat on huger strike before the administrative building of the varsity. The union claimed that the first day of the hunger strike was successful.
Later, union secretary Pradeep Kumar Mishra informed that the varsity registrar had assured to propose five of employees’ 16 demands during the meeting of executive council.
“We sought information from the registrar the time limit for consideration of our 11 other points besides the five accepted for discussion,” Mishra said.
The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Tritiya Varg Karmachari Sangh (CPTVKS) also supported the hunger strike of the varsity’s employee union. The spokesperson of CPTVKS Vijay Kumar Jha also addressed the RSU employee union members on the first day of the hunger strike. Alleging that the government was adopting double standards with the employees of the varsity, Jha said the RSU employees should get benefit of pay-scale and allowances implemented by the government for them.
Former president of RSU’s Shikshak Sangh Dr Ramendranath Mishra said the varsity administration should put aside its obstinacy and must accept the genuine demands of the employee union.
The union members who would sit on hunger strike on Tuesday are – Dr Gopal Chandrakar, Jeevan Lal Sidar and Rajendra Prasad Ausar.
