The state president of Futkar Vyapari Mahasangh (FVY) Dilip Singh Chouhan convened a meeting of street vendors at Gandhi Maidan on Friday and urged them to get registered with the association to avoid being challaned by Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC). On the occasion, several street vendors got registered with FVY.
Chouhan said all the registered street vendors would receive identity cards and license from the RMC.
Later, he informed that the FVY decided to start registration process of the street vendors considering the inconvenience they face frequently due to police and RMC action against them.
“We had recently submitted a memorandum to the RMC Commissioner RS Toppo and Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak urging them to quickly distribute identity cards and license to the street vendors so that they many not face municipal and police action in future. The duo gave us assurance over our demand and informed that the steer vendors get proper place to operate their business under municipal’s vendors’ policy,” Chouhan said.
He informed that the RMC had also promised the FVY to rehabilitate the displaced street vendors from different parts of the city to some suitable place.
