Jogi concerned over rising wood smuggling

Former Chief Minister and Congress legislator Ajit Jogi on Friday expressed his concerns over rising wood smuggling in the state forests. Flaying the government for failing to strengthen security of the forests he said - “The jungle areas shrinking fast due to illegal felling of trees. Ironically, the government appeal to the people to protect the forests, but it has kept its eyes shut towards wood smuggling. The glaring example is illegal felling and smuggling of trees near Bimda jungles in Jashpur district. Even the forest officials are not safe at work and smugglers are attacking them,” he said pointing towards the recent murder case deputy ranger BK Tiwari in Bagicha (Raigarh district).
